Plenty of Skiing Available in West Virginia

The best skiing and snowboarding conditions in the country right now can be found in West Virginia. So far this season over seven feet of snow has fallen in the mountains creating perfect early season conditions as all of the resorts prepare for the upcoming holiday season. Many of the resorts in West Virginia are featuring early season bargains right now so click on a resort at the bottom of the page and let gravity be your friend. From Canaan Valley and Timberline in Tucker County to Snowshoe Mountain in Pocahontas County to Winterplace in Raleigh County and over to Oglebay in Ohio County fresh snow covers the slopes for skiers and snowboarders.

The natural snow has been great for covering the slopes but the real story has been the sustained cold temperatures. That has allowed the resorts for the most part to make snow around the clock for the last couple of weeks. There have been times this year that combining all of the resorts efforts, over 20 tons of snow has been produced per hour, enough to cover one football field with 20 feet of snow.

All of the resorts continue to add skiing terrain daily, while all of the resorts will be open by this weekend as Winterplace opens Saturday for a seven-day a week schedule. Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing continues in high gear as the natural snowfall has allowed White Grass Touring Center and Elk River Touring to provide their Nordic trails, also with awesome conditions.
