Awesome Slope Conditions In West Virginia

Don’t look now but the conditions on the slopes at West Virginia ski resorts resemble what you would except to find during the mid-season. From Canaan Valley and Timberline in Tucker County to Snowshoe Mountain in Pocahontas County to Winterplace in Raleigh County fresh snow covers the slopes for skiers and snowboarders.

Since the end of October Mother Nature has dropped over six-feet of snow throughout the Allegheny Mountains of West Virginia. With all of the natural snow comes cold temperatures and that has meant awesome snowmaking conditions for all of the resorts. The large amount of natural snow added with the cold temperatures has equaled awesome early season conditions for the resorts that are open and for the resorts that are opening this week.

Snowshoe Mountain continues to add new trails everyday, including their signature slope Cupp Run from top to bottom. Timberline opened last Thursday, while Oglebay Resort opens today, Canaan Valley this Thursday, December 11 and Winterplace this Saturday, December 13. Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are already in high gear as the natural snowfall has allowed White Grass Touring Center and Elk River Touring to provide their nordic trails, also with awesome conditions.
